Positive Handling for Schools Training
Delivered at your school, we will work with your team to teach De-escalation skills, how to Manage Challenging Behaviour and how to use Positive Handling to safely hold people at risk of harming themselves or others.
Our quality affordable training is available 7 days a week including Monday to Thursday afterschool sessions.
We teach in accordance with Department for Education guidelines. Suitable for nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools and universities.
The training can be delivered as a one day six-hour trainer led course that teaches staff to understand the laws and DfE guidance covering the use of force, the importance of de-escalation skills and to be able to safely conduct low level Physical Interventions and Safe Holding techniques. The day can be extended to include Breakaway techniques instruction where required.
The first session addresses:
- The use of force
- The Health & Safety at Work Act
- The Human Rights Act
- The Education and Inspections Act
- Clarification of techniques that should not be used following DfE guidelines
- Avoiding and detecting positional asphyxia
- The importance of de-escalation skills
The second session is dedicated to instruction and practice of:
- Safe holding
- Breakaway techniques (where applicable)
- Low level physical intervention, positive handling techniques
All delegates successfully completing the course will receive a certificate. Refresher training should be completed annually.
This one-day course can be split into two afterschool sessions of 2.5 hours each. The sessions do not need to be consecutive.
All our staff hold Education and Training qualifications and subject specific qualifications. We are affiliated to, licensed by and quality assured by the National Federation for Personal Safety (NFPS).
We can also cater for your Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Children and Food Safety Training requirements.
